Member’s Studio Visit: Cathy Cooper

Los Angeles-based artist and costumer Cathy Cooper explores the intersections of sculpture and costumes with in her current exhibition at the Craft Contemporary, Dramatis Personae. In the past, Cooper’s work has been featured in numerous performances including ballets, movies, music videos, and television advertisements. In her new instillation – despite their stationary nature – Cooper’s figures evoke the dramatic movements of the stage with her inviting textures, rich colors and voluminous shapes. The pieces invite visitors to imagine the relationships between the characters and create their own narratives.
